Fashion inspiration comes from magazines, art, culture and even bloggers. A person’s style can tell you more about them before they even start speaking, so it’s important to choose pieces that really represent who you are. We caught up with Natalie Pinto from The Fashionably Broke and Rachel Mlinarchik from My Fair Vanity on what wardrobe pieces they are currently coveting. Autumnal dressing can be tricky with so many options for layering or trying to be stylish with the constant changes in weather. Below Natalie and Rachel each share two looks for fall while focusing on one key item for each outfit. If you feel like you’ve been in a fashion rut, prepare to get inspired.

“My staple item this fall is a camel colored jacket or blazer. Camel is already such a timeless color, but this season it’s become the perfect color to elevate any classic look.  I love this camel blazer from J.Crew because of it’s great structure.  Most of my clothes are loose and free flowing and this adds some masculinity to my looks.  Plus, I live in blazers in the colder seasons, they’re the perfect layering piece.  My favorite colors to pair with camel are hunter green, navy and even gray.”

Sweatshirts are another one of my biggest fall fashion staples.  Fashion is becoming more and more practical and I don’t hate it!  One with a cool graphic print on it like this “#SELFIE” sweatshirt from French Connection is perfect.  I love it paired with black and white pants or even a skirt.  I’m also loving plaid for fall, so that’s why I gravitated towards these Rag & Bone’s.  You can dress the look up with heels or keep it casual and sporty in some sneakers.  Throw on a pair of statement earrings and a bold lip and you’re out the door!”

“This Botkier tote is an incredibly versatile centerpiece for any DC woman’s fall wardrobe. Thanks to its mix of tans and black, it will work with a variety of shoes and fall coats, while the gold hardware and detailing allow it to work for the office, weekends, and even nights out. Best of all, it’s made in the USA.”

“This one is focused more on pieces for the office, with a midi-length pencil skirt as the key item. It’s versatile, lengthening, and conservative enough for any office environment you can find in D.C., so it’s a great staple item to add to your wardrobe.”
